🦋 IC Information

Character Name: Angela (born Aldrif Odinsdottir)
Age: Thousands of years old. However old Thor is? Angela is older.
Canon: Marvel-616
Canon Point: Strikeforce #8, after speaking with Freyja
Character History: wiki
Canon Abilities: Like all Asgardians, Angela has strength, stamina, durability, and speed exceeding that of a normal human. Of these, her strength and speed are especially high, even among Asgardians, being the daughter of Odin. She can lift 50 tons, and can move faster than even the Disir, who are said to move faster than lightning. She heals at an accelerated rate, and ages so slowly as to appear immortal. She can also survive in the vacuum of space without oxygen, and survive intense third degree burns across her entire body. Additionally, as an Asgardian, Angela has what's known as the Allspeak, which allows her to communicate in and understand all the languages of the Ten Realms, as well as various alien languages.
Inventory:
  • Her armor
  • Magical ribbons which she wears around her neck, that float as though in zero gravity. She can also command them telepathically and use them to bind/strangle opponents
  • Her Ichors, twin blades of liquid metal that reshape themselves to fit Angela's will

🦋 Personality

Option 2: You may instead choose words from the following list to expand upon as your personality section. Elaborate on what this word means to your character, specifically their thoughts about it. For Canon Characters, you can choose five words. For Original Characters, you will need to choose seven words. Keep the word count to 100-300 per choice.
  • Green
The word "green" brings to Angela's mind her sibling, Loki, as it is their signature color. While Angela has several blood siblings— Thor, Laussa, Balder, to name a few— Loki may just be Angela's favorite sibling. Part of it is that Angela prefers the company of women over that of men, due to her upbringing in the matriarchal realm of Heven, and Loki, being genderfluid, can be Angela's sister as much as they can be Angela's brother. But unlike her infant sister Laussa, Loki is a pleasant conversationalist: clever, cunning, and understanding of Angela's strict moral codes. Loki is the first of Odin's children to show Angela respect, and they were the one to reunite Angela with their long-lost father (whether Angela wanted that or not). Angela would not do any favors for most of her siblings, and yet when Loki ran for president of the United States (yes, really), Angela served as their campaign security detail. She has a soft spot for Loki in ways she does not for her other siblings.

  • Dead
At some point prior to the Tenth Realm becoming unsevered from the World Tree, Angela lost the love of her life, Sera. Sera's original death was never shown on panel, as it happened prior to Angela's introduction to the Marvel Universe. Being an Angel, when Sera's soul made its way to Hel, she ended up being sentenced to solitary confinement for being insolent towards Hela. Angela learned of Sera's fate from Malekith the Accursed, and it prompted her to lay a one-woman siege on Hel, eventually challenging and defeating Hela in a series of three trials, thereby crowning Angela as Queen of Hel. One of her sole acts as queen was to change the fate of all deceased Angels, giving them their own afterlife instead of being enslaved by Hela. Her other acts were to free Hela's handmaiden, Leah, and to ressurect her love, Sera. As soon as she accomplished these goals, she abdicated the throne of Hel, and installed her half brother Balder as regent. She has no desire to live amongst the dead, but the concept of death plays an important part in her history.

  • Pride
Upon first glance, Angela may come off as prideful, but really she just knows her strengths and is not afraid to state them aloud. She does not boast, because to boast is to mock others who are less powerful or privileged than you. She simply wields her strength and capability like a weapon in the hands of a practiced warrior. She does not think of herself as being overly abundant in pride, but rather just an understanding of what she can and can't do (and that there is more of the former than the latter).

The other meaning of "pride" which Angela would lay claim to, is of course LGBTQ+ Pride. Not only is she a proud and out lesbian, but her beloved Sera is a trans woman. Angela helped Sera through her transition, after she helped her to escape the underprivilged lower caste into which all AMAB Angels are born. During their brief time living together in New York City, Angela and Sera attended several Pride events together.

  • Fall
There is a concept, in the stories of Heven (and Heaven, as it has come to be known on Earth), of a fallen angel. For a time, Angela thought of herself as a fallen Angel. She was born Asgardian, but was kidnapped as a child and raised among the Angels, although she was mercilessly teased for not being like the others around her. Once the truth was revealed, she was banished from Heven, which was devastating to her, but she did end up repaying her debts to Heven for raising her into the skilled huntress and warrior she now is. And, in repaying her debts to Heven, she also repaid her debts to Asgard, but the manner in which she repaid them (kidnapping her infant sister Laussa and throwing her into the furnace that powers Heven) ended up with Angela being exiled from Asgard as well. (Don't worry, Laussa was fine.) But, being a woman who has lost every home she ever could have considered herself to have, in some ways, she does think of herself as fallen.

  • Child
As stated, Angela was stolen as a child. It is a great tragedy which befell her, that she had no control over. As such, she has a soft spot in her heart for children, especially those who find themselves either without a home, or in a strange place that is not their true home, the way she herself was when she was a child. It is what draws her to want to help Ophidian find a home for his people, and it is what draws her to rescue Leah from Hel and bring her to New York to live with Angela and Sera, until Leah decided to branch out on her own. In Angela's mind, the word "child" makes her think of someone who is to be protected, cherished, and encouraged.

🦋 Fae Court

List your top three choices for your characters adoptive court. The mods will choose the one out of those three options that seems the most fitting based on your app.

  • Siriana's Dress, magical winged armor that hides Angela from Heimdall's sight
Powers —

Skills: Angela is a highly skilled hunter, and fighter. She is an expert with both hand-to-hand combat and any bladed weapon.

Superpowers:
  1. Asgardian Physiology (canon power) — Like all Asgardians, Angela has strength, stamina, durability, and speed exceeding that of a normal human.

  2. Minotaur Curse (CRAU power) — During her stay in the Ryslig peninsula, Angela like all offworld captives was transformed into a "monster" by the Fog God. Angela's monster form was that of a minotaur. She gained horns, furry legs, hooves, and a tail, and increased strength and navigational sense. She became the perfect hunter, able to track prey for miles by scent and sound, and lure her victims into traps to get them alone. She also was able to lull her prey into a hypnotic daze by playing music. During the height of the Fog God's power, Angela could also transform into a full bovine form, able to travel longer distances and carry others on her back.

Limitations:
  1. Asgardian Physiology — Though Angela is fast, she cannot travel extreme distances at top speed without becoming tired. Her speed is more used for short bursts. She also is not immortal, and though she is durable, enough damage can still injure and kill her. Even with her enhanced strength, she is not the strongest Asgardian, and even she admitted that her younger brother Thor outmatched her in raw strength. While the Allspeak allows Angela to communicate in most languages, canon has shown that there are still some alien languages that Angela cannot understand.

  2. Minotaur Curse — CW CANNIBALISM MENTION The true curse of Ryslig is that all of the Fog God's monsters have an insatiable hunger for humans. I am removing this element of Angela's monster form, and limiting her curse to only transform her into a minotaur during the New and Full moons, and any time when it is particularly foggy. Her transformation into and out of minotaur form is painful, every time. Though she will not have the compulsion to feed on human flesh to survive, she will still have an overwhelming need to hunt and heightened senses during these times, and if she tries to resist these elements of her minotaur nature, she risks losing her control over her mind and going on a monstrous rampage. Also, as a minotaur, Angela has a weakness to high pitched noises.

Personality —

Angela's mantra, the life code that was passed onto her by the Angels who raised her, is "Nothing is for Nothing." That means that, while Angela does not give out favors, she always repays her debts. She does not leave loose ends hanging without tying them up. If someone helps her, she is sure to return the favor before long. At times, her "Nothing is for Nothing" mentality defines her, to the point where she will refuse to act if there's nothing in it for her. She has difficulty expanding her worldview to include other ways of behaving, and will resist any attempts to dissuade her from acting the way she wants to act. She has no problem causing trouble for other people, so long as her strict code is followed.

Angela does not let any obstacle stand in the way of her achieving her goal. No matter what that obstacle may be. Whether it's hordes of enemy armies, or the divide between Realms... if she has a debt to settle, she will accomplish the task she sets herself to. If something stands in between Angela and her goal, she would rather plow straight through it than find a way around.

Angela doesn't waste time debating plans. Instead, she rushes into the fray without thinking about the best course. This is shown when she and the Guardians of the Galaxy travel to the Badoon homeworld to rescue Star-Lord from gladiatorial combat. Rather than fight off the gladiators or try to convince the Badoon to let Star-Lord go, Angela beheads the leader of the Badoon and declares the battle over. While this saves Quill, it destabilizes one of the biggest martial forces in the galaxy, leaving a mess for other parties to have to come in and fix.

As evidenced by the above point, Angela believes that actions speak louder than words. As such, she finds it difficult to open up to people. Only those closest to her (Sera in canon, and a few people in Ryslig) know what is going on in her head. Even then, Sera infers from context more than Angela tells her outright. Angela lets her deeds do the talking. She's not one to "use her words." She also doesn't explain herself very well. When her infant sister, Laussa, was possessed by the spirit of Surtur, she embarked on a mission to rid Laussa of Surtur's influence without giving any of her comrades the full details. As far as they knew, Angela was just kidnapping and endangering the life of a baby, and expecting them to help her anyway.

You might not think it to look at her, but Angela can be kind hearted to those she is closest to. Particularly Sera, her ex-wife. Angela overthrew the Queen of Hel just to save Sera. That said, she has room in her heart for others, including the Guardians of the Galaxy, and her Asgardian kin, Thor, Loki, and Laussa. She has a particular soft spot for women, especially young girls, perhaps as she sees herself in them. Growing up, Angela's only family was Loriel, the Angel handmaiden who had saved baby Aldrif's life when the Queen of the Angels kidnapped her and planned to kill her. She was teased and tormented by her peers for having no wings, ostracized for being different. As she grew, she worked hard to secure her reputation as a fierce warrior, rising to the rank of Leader of Heven's Hunt. She put down insurrections of rebellious Angels, and slayed beasts that dared to threaten Heven's borders. It wasn't until she met Sera that she truly found a kindred spirit, worth protecting and loving— and being loved by in return. After all, "Nothing is for Nothing."

Both Angel and Asgardian societies are very strict; you have a given role and you stick to it. The women of Heven are warriors or hunters, and the men are priests, confined to a life of darkness and prayer. Angela, however, doesn't care about the set roles imposed on people. She only cares about who a person is on the inside, and the way they choose to behave. She values courage and bravery over all other qualities.

Gameplay —
Areas of Interest / Brainstorming: I'm interested in having Angela unpack all the trauma she went through in Ryslig, and ground herself in a world that is closer to the Earth she has some familiarity with. She hasn't gotten much of a chance to be a traditional Superhero™ in canon, so it will be interesting to see how she fits into a society that is rife with them while still adhering to her strict "Nothing is for Nothing" mentality.

â—Ź abilities:
  • Asgardian Physiology – Being Asgardian, Angela is stronger, faster, more durable, and even denser than the average human. She possesses stamina greater than Thor, and is faster than the DĂsir, who are said to be as fast as lightning. Additionally, she can survive in open space without the need to breathe. (She can also talk in space, which breaks physics, but that's comics for you.) She ages slowly enough to give the appearance of immortality, and though she is not invulnerable, she heals faster than a human would.

  • Fighting Prowess – Angela rose through the ranks of the Angels of Heven to become Leader of the Hunt, meaning she has slain countless monsters and fought innumerable enemies. She bested the best warriors of Hel to overthrow Hela and claim the crown for herself. Gamora, widely considered the galaxy's best assassin and finest warrior, considers Angela a formidable foe, and the pair are evenly matched in a fight.

  • Weapons and Armor – Angela possesses the magic dress of Siriana, the bride of the all-seeing Heimdall, which is the one thing in the universe which Heimdall cannot see. For her, the dress takes the form of winged armor, which allows her to fly at incredible speeds. She wields Xiphos, the Sword of the Stars, and a pair of Ichor, which are golden blades which form into any weapon she can think of, from swords, to hand axes, to whips. Additionally, Angela is constantly surrounded by magical floating ribbons which she can use to bind or strangle her opponents.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Aldrif Odinsdottir Angela
CANON: Marvel-616
AGE: How old is Thor? ...Older than that.
CANON POINT: Angela: Asgard's Assassin #6

BACKGROUND: Marvel wiki link, Wikipedia link.

Most believers of Norse mythology (and readers of that particular subsection of Marvel comics) will tell you that there are nine realms. They would be wrong. There is actually a tenth realm, sealed off from the World Tree after a falling out with Asgard. That realm is Heven, home to the Angels: a race of winged warrior women (say that five times fast). But the greatest warrior of Heven isn't actually an Angel at all; she is Angela.

Born to Freyja of the Vanir and King Odin of Asgard, the infant Aldrif was taken by the Angels in retribution for Asgard's crimes against Heven. Her name was changed, and she was never told about her true heritage. That is, until the day that Thor and Loki heard the tale of their lost sister, and broke their way into Heven in search of her. Angela defended her home from the Asgardian intruders, nearly killing Thor in the process, but then Odin arrived and instantly recognized her as the missing Aldrif. Upon the reveal that Angela was an Asgardian, she was cast out of Heven. Wanting nothing to do with Asgard, Angela is her own person, making her way through the Ten Realms on her own terms.

The main principle of Angel society can be summed up with the phrase, "Nothing for nothing." Meaning, an Angel never does anything without getting something in return. Some Angels are content with money as payment, but Angela holds more value in favors or gifts. Angel society is very strict; you have a given role and you stick to it. The women are warriors or hunters, and the men priests, confined to a life of darkness and prayer. Angela, however, doesn't care about the set roles imposed on people. She only cares about who a person is on the inside, and the way they choose to behave. She values courage and bravery over all other qualities.

INCENTIVE/FIT:

Angela recently learned that her closest friend, Sera, whom she thought returned from the dead, was actually Malekith in disguise all along! The real Sera is languishing in Hel, being tortured for all eternity thanks to a curse that Freyja cast on the Angels of Heven. Angela's incentive would be to grant Sera her freedom.

As for fit, Angela will take some... adjusting. The Angel lifestyle she was raised in was all about fighting, hunting, and making deals, but that's not to say Angela can't make friends. When she cares about someone, she will go to great lengths for them. She is shown being very intimate and physical with Sera, though the exact nature of their relationship is never put into words. Once she "loosens up" and accepts intimacy as the norm of Eudio, she will have no problem adapting.

SAMPLES:

Angela collapsed on the nearest surface-- the stump of a felled tree-- and allowed herself a moment to grieve, nay, panic. Her beloved Sera had not been returned to her, but instead remains in the depths of Hela's domain. A place where Angela could never go. She could not ask such a favor of her Guardian comrades, nor did she expect they would have any chance of accomplishing the task. She was Nið, and as such could not go to Asgard to seek the Odinson's aid. Would he even be able to assist her? To go against his Queen, invade a sovereign realm? Surely not.

Her options were poor, to put it lightly.

There came the sound of footfalls, from the nearby tree line. Angela instantly grabs for her sword, but a voice stalls her.

"Aldrif Odinsdottir, called Angela," the stranger said, approaching with both hands raised in supplication. "I mean no harm to you."

Angela narrowed her eyes at the stranger. "Why then have you come?" she asked.

The stranger smiled calmly, though if Angela knew any better, there was a sharp edge to the smile. Like someone who knows they have the winning hand in a game of cards. "I have come," they said, "to offer you a deal. To beg your assistance, in exchange for a solution to your problem."

"What do you know of my problem!?" she snapped. Her mood was not its usual even temperament. So freshly wounded, she was quick to anger.

The stranger lowered their hands. "I know you need a way to save your friend. And I know my home needs your help. Surely we can work out an arrangement."

Angela takes a deep breath, calming her ire. Finally, she speaks. "Go on."

ANYTHING ELSE?

Angela is not only trained as a warrior, she is Asgardian. This means she is incredibly fast, and incredibly strong. With her speed and reflexes, she could likely kill most attackers before they had a chance to draw their weapons. And speaking of weapons, she will want to come into Eudio with hers (either her sword or her giant axe-like... thing, though probably the sword, as that's what she has at her canonpoint). In addition to her weapon, she has special silver armor that allows her to fly via the use of retractable angel wings, and has the unique property of being invisible to Heimdall's sight. Heimdall can otherwise see everyone and everything in all of the Ten Realms.
